Homemade LIP GLOSS!

Did you know that you can make your own lip gloss?!  There are a few fun ways to do it, depending on your preference on ingredients!  Many of the store-bought varieties contain a lot of additional ingredients you probably don't want on your lips, and/or they can get spendy.  You can use one of your old lip gloss pots as the container, or get creative with recycling other containers you already have.  These make great gifts too!

Option 1:
2 tsp. beeswax (chopped or grated)
2 1/4 tsp. jojoba or coconut oil
Beet Juice to add color

Melt wax and oil together in a double boiler, stirring to combine beeswax & oil  (you could also melt in microwave if that is your style, for 20 - 40 seconds depending on power level, stir, then heat again if necessary) -- add beet juice to your color liking, stirring until even -- Pour into your containers -- Let cool for about 20 minutes.
Variations: Glossier look = add a wee bit more jojoba or coconut oil.  Flavored = add three or four chocolate chips, or a couple drops of vanilla or peppermint oil/flavor during the melting part.

Option 2 - the kids like this one!  (probably easier with ingredients you most likely have already, but not as healthy as option 1):

1 tsp. of Crisco
1 tsp. of Kool Aid mix
1/2 tsp of sugar

Combine and melt ingredients in a double broiler (or in microwave) same as above.
